Wow.

This was the highlight of the day, for me. At first, I thought it was going to be this, but Reverend Lowery just did me in. I've sung that song many times, in many places, with all kinds of folks, but hearing him say those words on the steps of the Capitol - wow. It's just been that kind of day.

I have never heard the song before, if it isn't in the Baptist Hymnal I wouldn't know!!! However, I thought Dr. Lowrey was a touching moment in the day.

Tonight Gabe brought up a conversation at school and said that everyone looked at him funny when he said that he hoped this president could do some good. My reply to Gabe was, "Son, be sure of this one thing this president will do exactly whatever God has planned for America at this time." There is always comfort to be found in that knowledge!

I think the song she was referring to was "My Country Tis Of Thee" that Aretha sang...
the whole thing was excellent...we watched part of it with third grade and fortunately got to listen to Barack's speech in peace and quiet during lunch. One third grader asked if MLK was still alive...another said something about Lincoln still being alive...sheesh.
